Facts and Questions
Have a look through our frequently asked questions below.
Do I need a referral?
No. Physician referrals are not required to begin care at our clinic. We welcome all patients and are happy to provide an initial consultation to discuss your needs and develop a treatment plan. Additionally we are happy to work alongside your physician, providing updates on treatment and your progress, and discuss any referrals or treatment options which may be necessary.
Do you direct bill insurance?
We understand that dealing with insurance can be stressful, which is why we offer direct billing for most major insurance providers in Alberta to make your experience as smooth as possible. Unsure if we can direct bill your provider? Reach out to us and we will be happy to confirm for you.
What happens to my medical information?
Is chiropractic care safe?
Yes, chiropractic care is a very safe and effective treatment option for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain, sciatica, neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain, and injuries involving feet, ankles, knees and hips. Our chiropractors are well trained and maintain good standing with the governing body of Alberta. We will conduct a thorough evaluation before starting treatment to ensure that chiropractic care is appropriate for your needs.
Do treatments hurt?
In most cases the answer is no. You may experience some mild discomfort or soreness after treatment, but our techniques are designed to be gentle and non-invasive. We will work with you to ensure that you are comfortable throughout the treatment process. Informed consent is a major component of all our treatments and we ensure you know exactly what to expect and what all available options for treatment are prior to commencing any therapies.
How long do treatments take?
Initial appointments are approximately 60-minutes and follow ups are offered in 15, 30 and 45-minute windows depending on your specific needs and preferences. We take pride in offering appointments that are longer than industry standard and your treatments are always 1:1 with your therapist. We believe it is rare in today's healthcare system to be listened to and heard which is why we take time to prioritize your story to best help you. Treatment times and frequency vary depending on the condition and severity of your symptoms. We will develop a personalized treatment plan that may include multiple sessions over several weeks or months.
Do you need X-Rays?
No, most cases do not require x-rays or advanced imaging prior to your initial appointment. If following your assessment your therapist believes imaging may be required to make a diagnosis or plan your care any necessary referrals will be following this appointment. If you have had and relevant imaging done in the past you can bring any reports with you to be reviewed and added to your chart, alternately these can be looked up on your behalf through Netcare while at your appointment.
Will I be treated at my initial appointment?
In the vast majority of cases yes, following a history and examination your chiropractor will discuss treatment options with you and commence an agreed upon treatment plan. However in some cases where more in depth history and exam are required, or you present with multiple areas or injuries to be assessed there may be limited or no time to begin treatment on the same day. In these cases we will be sure to book you in for a follow up appointment in the immediate future and be sure to send you home with pertinent information on how to care for your injury before your first treatment.
